We have been very pleased to see workers almost every day!

We have passed our first inspection and the foundation will be poured soon!

We have our permits and construction has finally begun! I can't believe we started this project back in 2006 and it is really underway.

Previous posts about our home addition project are Home Addition - New Floor Plan and Home Addition - floor plan.

The addition will be two rooms plus a bathroom for about 600 square feet of new space. We are also getting a new roof and new windows all around (energy efficient vinyl windows from Silver Line).

Here is the "before" picture, where the old aluminum window and the wooden deck are visible:

Our new dining room window has been installed, the heat pump has been moved, and demolition has begun:

A lot of progress has been made since the project began. These pictures show some of the intermediate steps.

Here I am installing a vertical PDU (Power Distribution Unit):

The museum has allocated part of a collection room for server space. I am posting a few pictures to track the progress of that project so far.

Here are the racks the day we first rolled them into place. We are using the 42U APC NetShelter 750mm wide SX (AR3150) enclosures. The extra width allows for easier cable managment within each rack.

Unpacking rack and server accessories makes a lot of clutter:

When members of my family come to visit, we usually take a drive to Alachua Sink / La Chua Trail to look at the alligators. Notice something in the background?

Here is a closeup:

The water level was really low which tends to concentrate the gators in these few lake areas.
